Truro Club Farm Walk at Trewint Farm Draws a Crowd
Over 80 visitors gathered at Trewint Farm, on the edge of Menheniot, for a Truro Club farm walk hosted by Peter and Ashley. With trailers full, guests toured the farm to see various groups of cattle, taking in the scale and quality of the herd.
The first stop of the afternoon was the group of young bulls, who immediately caught visitors’ attention — not only for their impressive growth and quality, but also for their remarkably docile nature as the crowd gathered around them. Their calm temperament was a real credit to the handling and management at Trewint.
The youngstock throughout the farm continued to impress, with many admiring the condition and promise of the next generation. A highlight of the day was meeting Trewint Jill 722, the winner of the National Herd Competition’s Best Heifer Under Two Years — a clear testament to the quality of breeding at Trewint.
The farm also enjoyed tremendous success in the National Herd Competition, with all five of their current stock bulls placing in the top ten of the Bull Section, further showcasing the depth and strength of the herd.
Guests also had the chance to view some exciting new purchases from The Grove Dispersal Sale, including the top-priced outfit, Grove Primrose 88 and Grove Primrose 100, bought for £15,000, adding valuable new genetics to the herd.
Although the morning weather was biblical, the skies cleared just in time, and the afternoon turned fine, making for an enjoyable visit around the farm. The walk concluded back at the yard with plenty of tea and cake, providing a perfect end to a relaxed and informative day.
It was a day that celebrated not only the stock on display but also the dedication and enthusiasm of the hosts — and the great community spirit of the Truro Club.
