NBA Beef Expo at North West Auctions
The Society’s Performance Championships were held at Beef Expo 2024 on 27th April, judged by Adrian Rundle from Newquay, Cornwall. His female and overall breed champion was a lovely polled heifer from Richard Hartshorn, Telford, Shropshire – Cilgwrrwg Hastey (HP), by Brafferton Kudo and out of multi award winning Cilgwrrwg SAS Zoom (AI) (HP), herself rated EX95 in her female classification.
Male champion was from Chris Page, Banbury, Oxfordshire – heterozygous polled Coton Herman 4 (HP), out of polled dam Coton Buttergirl 4 (HP) and by Langham’s Herman.
This is the 8th year that the Society has held this national event to highlight the benefits of performance recording and it was pleasing to see a lovely display of breeding cattle from Dumfries & Galloway, Oxfordshire, and Shropshire. The competition is judged on a combination of Breedplan performance figures and visual inspection for each class, with the champions being selected visually from first placings in their individual classes.
We are most grateful to Neogen for sponsoring this event, and it was lovely to welcome Sharon Watkinson from Neogen to present the prizes.
