The relevance of performance recording can be greatly enhanced for the breeder who also chooses to scan his animals to measure for carcase traits. Commercial bull buyers as well as pedigree breeders are keen to know the EBVs for Retail Beef Yield, Fat Depth, and Eye Muscle Area, and these traits are calculated from actual measurements recorded during scanning.
