The Devon County Show at Westpoint
|
The first major show of 2007, the Devon County Show at Westpoint, Exeter, enjoyed good weather and a good crowd. |
| Richard Harvey’s Sexton Conqueror 83 took male and breed champion, judged by James Eustice of Treglinnick Farm, St Ervan, Wadebridge, Cornwall, and female champion was awarded to Sir Simon Day’s Keaton Rosebud 52. |
The breed champion went on to the interbreed classes, to take the Best Devon or South Devon Bull Exhibited award; reserve Champion Local Beef Animal; and Champion Native Beef Animal.
|
A highlight of the Show was the presentation by Mr Lesley Wills to the Society of a painting of an exceptionally high-performance South Devon dairy cow from the 1930s – Milkmaid 14. The painting is now hanging in the Society’s offices at Westpoint.
